Our Story

How it all started...

Antioch Baptist Church has roots going back to the late 1800s, when families in the Lovelady community gathered for worship in simple wooden structures. Through the decades, the church faced struggles—even seasons when services stopped and the building stood in decline. Yet God was faithful. In the 1930s and 1950s, through the prayers of His people and the help of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Antioch was revived with new buildings, fresh baptisms, and renewed life. What many thought was finished, God restored.

Expanding the vision...

As Antioch grew, God continued to stretch the vision of the church. By 2012, the congregation had outgrown its small sanctuary. After much prayer and planning, the church began meeting in the Family Life Center—a bold step that paved the way for one of the greatest seasons of growth in our history. That move directly led to the planning of a new worship center, where we worship today. Along the way, Antioch has continued to adapt its ministries and facilities to meet the needs of the church body and to reach more people with the gospel.

Where we are headed...

In January 2023, Antioch stepped into its new Worship Center, marking a new chapter in our story. Today, our vision is to be a church family fully engaged in kingdom service—discipling one another, meeting real needs with the love of Christ, and striving together in unity, faith, and love. As God began the good work long ago, we press forward with the same hope as those who came before us – in Christ.
